Carnival is a very significant celebration for the Caribbean. It is a festival of Caribbean culture and traditions that is celebrated every month. People gather around, wear costumes as shown in the image and sing and dance all day long. Caribbean flags are held in the celebration as the people enjoy this vibrant and animated time together with one united spirit.

Carnival is not only celebrated in countries in the Caribbean, but also practiced in the United States to unite the diaspora and connect those of Caribbean origins. It is also a great way to expose second generation immigrants and those who have not seen their “home” countries to their native culture and traditions. It unifies people, remind them of who they really are and strengthens their Caribbean identities.

In this section, I discuss a previous Carnival that took place in New York. The review that was made by the New York Post and it helps explore and get a sense of what CarnivalĀ is and what it means for those who participate in it. I also discuss my personal taste to Carnival which is my first experience with the celebration.
