Music is an art form that is very diverse throughout the Caribbean, with each island having it’s own distinction and flare. While they are distinct, there are also elements of Caribbean music that are similar and bring them together.

Below I have a snippet of a Caribbean man playing the steel pan, a very sentimental, historic, and representative instrument of the Caribbean. This was taken on Flatbush Ave in Brooklyn, which is well known as a Caribbean hub where people get together to acknowledge and celebrate their cultural Identity.

I also include a snippet of the inside of a Caribbean market on Flatbush that sells different items like instruments, clothing, souvenirs, and household items that relate to the identity of the Caribbean diaspora. You can hear the music playing which allows one to immerse in the culture.
