Scenery in Therese Raquin

From the smooth transitions between sets to the extensive details within the sets themselves, the scenery in Therese Raquin was very impressive. Especially memorable were the set of Laurent’s studio, with the views of the stars, the river, and the transitions. Laurent’s studio featured a hanging set that was I didn’t even realize was hanging at first. The river was impressive because even though it limited the space of the stage, it was incorporated into the best scenes and had a deep metaphoric meaning to Therese. Finally, the transitions, with hanging sets and sliding panel boards, showed how innovative and smart the set was designed to be able to flow as smoothly as it did.
