Koryo Books opened back in 1978, before Koreatown was even established. The primary intention for the store was to sell books to Korean people who moved to New York City and didn’t know about the culture, “since there was no Internet back then”.

Although the Koryo’s ownership changed 10 years ago, the spirit of bringing Korean culture to New York is still alive throughout the store.
