Our project is a curatorial exhibition where we chose four art pieces that share the theme of Black Futurity and Progeny. Our group wanted to focus on black youth in the art, which often depicts what the future may hold for the next generations. Our pieces express ideas on subjects such as being born into a life of oppression, challenging white iconography, and depicting black futurity as something powerful.
In the beginning, we start with a piece describing a bleak future, and we transition to a more hopeful one with our last piece. We chose to make a video to help provide a verbal analysis of the images while the viewer can look at the artworks and interpret them for themselves. Please enjoy!
