In order to approach the question for our topic, we identified the specific variables that we needed to analyze: air quality factors and rates of asthma prevalence. Our goal was to gather data on the air pollutants and asthma rates within various regions of New York State in order to answer the question: Are higher air pollution concentrations correlated with higher asthma rates? We hypothesized that there is correlation between the two. After posing our hypothesis, we collected data using public databases and generated a data set to be analyzed. We did this by creating a regression plot and computing a statistical analysis test to make sense of the data. Finally, we drew conclusions based on our results, leaving room for further questions about the connection between these variables.
