This project discusses the popular Hamilton musical. Hamilton was an extremely influential musical on Broadway which used lots of music like r&b and rap instead of typical classical and other related music. They also included an extremely diverse cast considering that the main roles are the founding fathers and other political figures that were white, the cast mostly consists of people of color. We discuss the color-conscious and color-blind casting that occurs. This leads to discussing critics’ opinions on the diverse cast that is sometimes praised and other times looked down upon.
