An analysis written by our group: Annabel Savarese, Miles Harrington, Gwendolyn Posner, and Selina Zheng of internal and external pressures and their impact on our personalities and identities. As our zine reflects, we each have distinct personalities that appear through our writing, photography, and graphic design. However, it can often be difficult to resist the pressure to conform to convention. External forces in society threaten our ability to protect our identity in the most corporeal form: our physical bodies. We must also resist internal forces that suppress our identity. Representation is important because it encourages us to not only recognize, but celebrate our identities. Through art, people can find agency in taking back the narrative of their identity.
