Ginkgo trees are impressively resilient plants. Research shows that ginkgo trees have a long lifespan of more than a thousand years, as well as strong resistances to drought, diseases, pollution, and poor soil. In the past there have been several programs to plant ginkgo trees in an effort to improve air quality. Curious about the effectiveness of ginkgo trees in this respect, we have done research to see if they really do have a positive effect.

This was interesting to read. When you think of air quality, how do you isolate just the grinko, since there are other trees also taking in the carbon dioxide? What limitations would you say this study has?

Your poster surprised me because I had always thought that all trees had a significant impact on air quality. Why did you choose to use NYC Open Data rather than collect your own in the field? Why were the two neighborhoods Bayside/Little Neck and Stuy Town/Turtle Bay chosen in particular?
