Spotted lanternflies were once believed to be a non-threat to New York since it was predicted that they would not be able to survive cold winters, but this has since been proven false. This species has spread all across the United States, including New York State and has continued to disperse over the years. This project examines the population of spotted lanternflies at Randall’s Island based on iNaturalist data gathered at the Macaulay annual BioBlitz.
