Abhishek’s second week in haikus 10/13-10/20

Watch dance performance.

Take a late night subway trip.

Business tomorrow.

New store openings.

Rain pouring everywhere.

Can’t be good for suede.

Cold fingers all day,

Waking up at eleven

makes it worthwhile.

Sports are boring now.

Yankees season is already over

NBA season is questionable.

Stocks are going down,

Tomorrow they might go up.

Who knows what will happen?

Is destiny real?

Or is it cause and effect?

How do we even tell?

New York City has

everything available at

any time of day.

Time to take out the

heavy winter jackets.

Soon it will snow.

Blurb #2

You walk into the small room with photos and Bazaar covers covering the walls and you can’t help but notice the beautiful women that have been in the magazine. In the “Harper’s Bazaar: A Decade of Style” exhibit in the International Center of Photography, you witness the changes in fashion throughout the years through the eyes of Bazaar magazine. These fashion trends are shown in photos ranging from black and white photos of fully clothed women with extravagant makeup to colorful nude women with minimal makeup. Since fashion is such an important thing in today’s world, this exhibit shows the amazing fashion and models over the years.

Review #1: “Forrest Gump”

In the 1994 movie “Forrest Gump,” director Robert Zemeckis uses the same creativity, with which he brilliantly directed “Cast Away,” to indulge the viewer in a attention-grabbing 142 minute narrative. In this movie, Tom Hanks plays the main role of Forrest Gump, who is a man with a low IQ. Not only is the character of Forrest well written for, but also Tom Hanks’ acting is outstanding and very much believable. This movie is an excellent depiction of life as a soldier in the Vietnam War, as well as of life as a disadvantaged man who learns to achieve great accomplishments with his heart and his dedication. The movie, as a whole, has some very inspirational and valuable lessons that everyone should learn for living a good life. Continue reading

International Center of Photography: “Remembering 9/11”

As soon as you walk down the stairs to the “Remembering 9/11” exhibit, you are hit in the face with emotions. The floor-to-ceiling projections displayed on the walls of the horrific pictures from that tragic day are shocking. Seeing the kinds of objects that were burned and destroyed was astonishing, ranging from a child’s doll to a fire truck. As you slide along the walls of the exhibition in the pin-drop silence, you see the faces of family members grieving their lost ones, firefighters standing on several stories of rubble, and how the World Trade Center site changed during the months after the attacks.

Something I noticed this week as I walked around artfully was the building where the show “Suits” takes place. I saw that the building’s architecture looks exactly like the building in the show and then I noticed that the building number was the same.
