Improvisation. Blurb 4
Improvisation is a very big part of life, although people tend to overlook it. We are constantly coming up with things on the spot. However, performing improvisational theater is a lot more difficult when it comes down to it. At the Pit, a bar and venue only a few blocks away from Baruch, there are shows that are free every Wednesday, where professional improvisational performers stand on stage and are able to create a very successful show based off of nothing. The Pit, and improvisational theater, is a great way to be astounded by talent and comedy.
String Quartet. Blurb 3
What is more refreshing than a performance from a string quartet in the middle of the school day? The high and low pitches harmonizing with one another prove to be more relaxing than one may expect. At the Engleman Recital Hall, the audience can embrace every note played by each instrument and revel in the fact that the different octaves and tones complement each other, creating beauty in the form of music. A string quartet consists of two violins, one viola and one cello. Although the group has similar components from each corner, each provides its own taste and contributes to the larger scheme of musicality. Without a doubt, string instruments hold their own in creating a unique art form.

Urban Word NYC
Spoken word is spoken but definitely more than words. This art form is able to evoke the highest of emotions, so powerful that it can be transferred from the speaker to the listener in a matter of minutes, without the need for interpretation or analysis. The young artist on the stage, pouring his feelings out into the microphone, transmitting his thoughts throughout the room, create a sense of urgency, sympathy, and reality. Spoken word is a one of a kind art form that can provide the listener with sensations that no other art form can provide. Continue reading

Have You Met the Met?
The Metropolitan Museum of Art is filled with more than visual works of art. Visiting this monumental museum may feel a bit intimidating at first and somewhat disorienting. However, the Metropolitan Museum, more commonly known as the Met, is designed with the audience in mind. Each section is divided into exhibits that reveal a component that this museum surprisingly contains: culture. You may think that art in itself is culture already, but the Met creates a whole different atmosphere that gives the viewer a clear depiction of the time period in which the art is based or taken from. Take a look inside and explore your interests. You’ll be amazed at what you can learn.

Phantom of the Opera
Review of “Phantom of the Opera”
The Broadway play, “Phantom of the Opera”, is widely known as the longest running musical in Broadway history. Written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, this musical is meant to evoke deep, melancholy emotions and allow the audience to always admire inner beauty rather than only the exterior. The storyline of this musical is undoubtedly an amazing one. However, the plot is not what makes this show stand out. The musicality and lyrics of the songs in “Phantom of the Opera” is what truly creates an atmosphere that is unparalleled and an experience that is incomparable. Continue reading

A Wicked Experience

Not only is Wicked filled with songs that fill your body with energy, it reveals a prequel to the well-known movie, The Wizard of Oz. What’s more is that, through this musical, you’ll learn that not everyone is what he or she seems. If you’re looking for something uplifting and exhilarating, don’t hesitate to buy tickets to watch this Broadway musical. The price you pay is definitely worth the experience you get.
