We looked across the five boroughs of New York City, and explored whether the presence of certain air pollutants causes a decline in the local population of rock pigeons. Contrary to our initial assumptions, we found that air pollution does not have much of an influence on rock pigeon populations, and that other factors — like the volume of food left on the street for birds to pick at — may play a larger role. This project was done by Akshay Raju, Javier Jbara, Aleika Chery, Rebecca Gindoff, and Raphael Langer.
