Water pollution affects ecosystems by influencing respiration activity via the presence of oxygen, which can cause oxygen depletion and consequently lower populations of fish. This would, in theory, sustain a smaller waterfowl population. After measuring water pollution with Secchi disk depth (i.e. turbidity) and pH levels, results remain inconclusive whether the effect of water pollution on ducks, swans, and geese is species-specific or confounding variables took part.
