Migration of European Starlings in New York

Project Authors: Agnes Cheung, Michelle Malakov, Jaeyoung Choi

Our project explores the factors that contribute to the migration of European Starlings to New York City during the fall months. As many may suspect, we have hypothesized that the number of European Starlings will decrease as the temperature gets colder and as food availability declines, but the results of our study ultimately led us to reject our rationale behind our hypothesis. Nonetheless, temperature and food abundance does seem to influence the presence and migration of European Starlings within New York City.
