Every day there is a performance at Union Square and 14th street underground in the subway system of New York. It’s incredible how many New Yorkers which are people that have the smallest attention span ever are captivated by the artists and just group around them. I took the time to watch House of Water perform and it may have been the most unique music I ever heard. What’s so incredible about this band is that their music is a combination of sound from all over the world including South America, India, Africa and even Jazz. The band also used an instrument I’ve never seen before called a hammered dulcimer and they played it to perfection. This band is truly a wonder to behold, prepare to be amazed as the band plays the most innovative music you will probably ever hear.

I agree that sometimes great music is where you least expect it. New Yorkers are always rushing to places. I, personally, rush in and out of subway stations all the time. Sometimes a music performance would captivate my attention but I would quickly rush away because I’m running late for a class or appointment. House of Water seems like an incredible band and this definitely makes me want to slow down next time and enjoy some music performance of my own.

I suppose, it’s very hard to mix music of diferent cultures in an appealing way. I heared about these guys before, but now I’m actually interested.
Having just this past week end sped through Union Square, I now regret not having listened to the people performing there. Many New Yorkers probably miss out on these performances and experiences, even though they are the easiest to attend.
Next time give it a shot you don’t have to watch the whole performance but even five minutes is worth the time.
