Weeks of Haikus

10/6

Oh, haikus, haikus,

Oh, how I love and loathe you,

Oh, haikus, haikus.

10/7

Like Rebecca Black

Would say, “It’s Friday, Friday”

Thank god it’s Friday.

10/8

Star night, star bright. I

Can’t see any stars tonight.

But never is it dark.

10/9

People on the train

Only one inch away, yet

So very apart

10/10

The anxiety

You get when midterms arrive

Inexplicable.

10/11

Staring at the middle

Of nowhere, trying to find

Something worthwhile

10/12

Oh, so cold in the

Morning, then warm when it’s night

Is this bipolar?

10/13/11

Dancing and movement,

Music and body expression,

Night and drizzling rain.

10/14/11

Wind passing through me

Cold rain caressing my face

Night to remember

10/15/11

Future lies before me

So intangible that I

Can’t help but be scared.

10/16/11

Pressure that I give

Myself threatens to break me

When I’m not looking.

10/17/11

It’s a cold morning

Some ask me how I survive

Without some coffee

10/18/11

Train rocks and cradles

Me back and forth, lulling me

To peaceful slumber.

10/19/11

Thirst overwhelms me

Water can pacify me

So that I can be.

10/20/11

Seeing familiar faces

Faces of my family

Warms my happy heart.

10/21/11

Friday brings on the

End of a past week and a

Glimmer of the next.

10/22/11

Walking home alone

Time for reflection or just

Time for nothingness.

10/23/11

Heart beats faster as

My stomach sinks-

Feeling ill.

10/24/11

I admire those

Who have the capacity

To do it all.

10/25/11

Trying to beat

Time itself. Racing, racing

To get ahead.

10/26/11

It is funny how

The person you know can so

Easily become the person you knew.

10/27/11

Struggling for some

Inspiration-

Come help me please.

10/28/11

Swiping my ID card

Got my laptop out-

I am a college kid.

10/29/11

Snow in October

Walking home, my feet are numb.

Freezing my butt off.

10/30/11

Growing up can be

So tasking-

Wish I was still a kid.

10/31/11

Halloween is here!

I’m addicted to Reese’s

Peanut Butter Cups.

11/1/11

I can’t wait until

November 11, 2011

To make a wish.

  1. Thoughts: More recently I see a lot revolving around time and the simple act of being and how those two tie into each other. Seems like you value reflection and being (as opposed to doing), specifically in your post on the 22nd. I also notice that you write in the present for almost all your haikus. Do you write them as the ideas and experiences occur do you write them down later and just alter the tense? I find that very interesting. Regarding the idea of being, I see you mention the word “heart” in two different entries and it seems you only mention nouns in two different places with the words “heart” “rain” and “cold.” Maybe that’s too deep. Or maybe not. Who knows.
