It’s good to see that the critic was also bewildered by some of the choreography. I agree that the performance seemed to be “choreographed in code.” I didn’t really know what was going on for most of the performance but found it enjoyable nonetheless. At times the male dancers would run while being chased by the females just before crashing to the ground and ducking as the female dancer would walk around one of them.
I didn’t really see how gender played into the performance. There was one time where a male was very close to another one while a female was doing the same to a male in the background. For the most part, I was trying to see what the performance was emulating–as if there were some natural force that inspired the dancer’s actions. At the end of the performance I thought of water drops or electricity or even molecular organisms, but none really captured the motions of the dancers.
