The immigrant monument depicts the diversity of immigrants in New York City as well as their struggles. The various ethnic groups, such as a European Jew, a liberated African slave, a priest, and a worker, each have their own unique narrative to tell. Furthermore, to alter this monument, I would have all of the immigrants clasp each other’s wrists to express unity, as depicted below. Since all immigrants leave their homes in order to improve their quality of life, they are on the same route.
