In the twenty-first century, technological advancements have been occurring at a revolutionarily unrivaled speed. Information can be exchanged and distributed within milliseconds, communication transpires within the unspoken exchange of texts and emoticons, and the average person knows more about their favorite celebrities’ daily schedule than their own. While technology offers myriads of invaluable resources and conveniences, the world can no longer turn a blind eye to the obvious deterioration that has been induced by the digital culture. This walk-through online gallery aims to open viewers eyes to the issues we have allowed to become normal. It is a call to action, a challenge to reflect on where we are holding and what must change for the sake of the future we hope to preserve.
These issues affect the entire population, and an acknowledgement of the harmful effects is crucial. While the world is slowly gaining awareness and movements are beginning to form, great amounts of pressure from concerned consumers would be necessary in order to demand real change. To move towards a safer and more regulated technological world, we must not close our hearts to the catastrophic trends that have infiltrated daily life. We need to fight for the basic rights that have been threatened, have the strength to return to genuine human connection. We must learn to look away from the glowing phone in our hand and instead look up towards the sky. Are we capable of noticing the twinkling lights of a brighter future?
