The Blur of Time in Motion

The culminating project of my Arts in NYC seminar was to create a piece of writing based on photographs and drawings that focused on prompts like “line,” “air,” “language” and “movement.” The images that inspired my story are interspersed throughout the writing. My story threads together the themes I noticed repeated throughout my images and reflects the concerns I faced this past semester. Like many, the COVID-19 pandemic made me consider mortality more than ever. I also faced the emotionally challenging experience of moving my grandmother into a memory care facility. The journey in my story abstracts my present reality while still encapsulating the ponderings and feelings that were central to this moment in my life.
