House Sparrows are one of the most successful avian urban invaders. Its population is said to be declining in urbanized locations in North America, such as in New York City.
House sparrows living in urban cities are consistently smaller and in worse conditions than their rural counterparts. This is due to the different habits in foraging, reproduction rates, and overall survival in urban areas.
Sparrows in more urbanized areas often suffer higher rates of nestling mortality and poor nestling diet quality.
