Our project describes the strong and positive correlation between number of pigeons and number of observers of pigeons, number of pigeons and population density, and population density and number of observers of pigeons. The data we used for this correlation are from each of the 62 counties of New York. We retrieved data for number of observers and pigeons from iNaturalist and used the 2020 census for population density data. We then tried to explain how these strong and positive correlations came to be in our study and finished the study off by explaining how we may use similar techniques to analyze other birds on the platform such as orioles and how we may use total population as an alternative to population density in a future study.
