This project will focus on the change in monthly average precipitation in NYC, starting in the 1900s to present times, and its relationship to the rising temperature. Climate scientists agree that climate change allows different parts of the earth to grow warmer; however, the relationship to precipitation is unclear. The basic water cycle shows that as more water (due to the melting ice caps) is coming into local seas and oceans and rising temperatures (trapped greenhouse gases), are the reasons for the rapid evaporation and drought rate.
