This project talks about an significant time in black history, known as the Harlem Renaissance. The Harlem Renaissance was essentially a turning point for black Americans, as it allowed these individuals to take control of the portrayal of their culture in the US, as well as bring awareness to social issues through artwork. From this project I want people to take away additional knowledge about an important mark in American history, that occurred here in New York City in the 1920s and 1930s.
