Aaron Douglas was a prominent and influential artist in the Harlem Renaissance. He developed his career around painting murals and creating illustrations that addressed racism and segregation. The pinnacle achievement of his career was a series of murals entitled “Aspects of Negro Life,” each one depicting a different part of the African American experience.
