This piece might not seem to portray a story at first glance. However, the enslaved African Americans who put the table together utilized raw materials to put together such a beautiful piece. It represents their struggle and how they could truly do a lot with the little materials given.

I see peace and harmony in one perspective and the opposite of that peace in another perspective. The view of the children with the animals displays a utopia that does not reflect reality while the view of the colonists and indigenous people displays conflict and dispute.

The artwork depicts their family dynamic. The father is seated in a chair, while the wife and child are standing beside him. The father seated in the chair symbolizes someone of power, however they’re all at the same dimensions so that represents how in their household power is shared. The father does not have all the power, which is what is expected from this time. The depiction of them being at the same level shows the differences between equality and equity, this being a representation of equity, which was more common during this time period compared to equality.

Because it is a mystery as to why the base was offered by the King and placed in the Nile Delta there is no clear story, however it is evident that the base may have held significant spiritual value because of the construction of a temple model implicates that the temple was very important and needed to be carefully planned.

There isn’t really a narrative but it serves a still image which captures the devotion and order of perhaps the Egyptian religious order and values. It seems to capture this particular Egyptian’s devotion and portrays him as a tool to serve his religion as opposed to an individual through his rigidity and lack of expression.

There may be an incoming storm based on the grey storm clouds on the left and a clear blue sky on the right in the background. The birds may be caught unaware.

The painting depicts a storm rolling over a mountain range. The people in the foreground seem to be fleeing from the storm or attempting to seek cover with their horses. The background is obscured, giving a sense of impending danger and showing that the storm has already descended upon that area of mountains. The lake in the middle is illuminated by a patch of light rays, portraying the calm before the storm reaches the fleeing people.

All the strings/lines are tangled. They start from the sun, representing a birthplace. It might symbolize a connection with humanity. They might be lines of communication. The scene is not calming, rather it looks aggressive. There are no blues of purples, just greens and warm colors on the bottom half. This could represent growth or life. They look like roots.

It’s a long, continuous panel of blue and yellow squares. The artist is trying to draw attention to the bright and vibrant colors that represent Ukraine so the visitors and those who are passing by can be reminded of Ukraine’s ongoing war that is affecting all of us in todays world. By making use of simple shapes and symmetric images she is trying to make connection to the war in the frontlines.
